Vehicle Administrative Services (VAS) is proud to announce that John Sopocy has been promoted to president of the company. Longtime VAS President Bill Breindel will remain on board as CEO and Chairman, but says Sopocy will take over the day-to-day leadership. Breindel says he has groomed Sopocy for the position for the past several years.
I have always been interested in improving our environment through teammate collaboration and technology as a force to improve the customer experience.
“John’s experience in our industry gives him unparalleled insight into our overall strategy and operations,” Breindel says. “John has been assisting me with strategic planning, claims, administration, technology, project management and network support since he began working at VAS.”
Sopocy, previously Senior VP of Claims and Risk Management at VAS, joined the company in 2014. He came to VAS with more than two decades of experience in the service contract and motor club industries. His previous roles include senior positions in risk management and claims for Assurant Solutions and Enterprise Financial Group, where he was responsible for the performance programs and services for dealers and consumers.
Sopocy worked at Assurant for 10 years, starting in 2002, and served in claims, product development, and risk management. During this time, he was responsible for managing the team in charge of financial reporting and analysis for all internal and external clients, including multiple third-party administrators and OEMs. He worked closely with actuarial, operations, legal, compliance, finance and accounting groups. At the St. Petersburg, Florida location, he led a team of more than 85 employees.
“I have always been interested in improving our environment through teammate collaboration and technology as a force to improve the customer experience,” Sopocy says. “It begins with understanding our teammate’s needs and creating an atmosphere of respect and unity. That will translate into a unmatched customer experience.”
Sopocy is a 1991 graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a B.S. in Applied Technologies. He holds numerous ASE certifications, and currently resides in Murphy, Texas with his wife and family.
