Vroom, eBay Motors Forge Partnership
Starting in the third quarter, eBay will allow Vroom to make formal cash offers to private vehicle sellers on its website.
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Vroom and eBay have formed a partnership that will enable Vroom to make formal cash offers to purchase vehicles from selected private sellers on eBay.
Tony Hoang, head of vehicles for eBay Motors North America, said that the partnership will be mutually beneficial to both Vroom and private sellers. Private sellers will gain a safe and trusted buyer for their vehicles and Vroom will gain a whole new source of vehicles for its inventory, he explained.
According to eBay, the pilot will roll out in the third quarter for selected private sellers on eBay Motors. When the pilot program launches, it will be limited to sellers who have not received or chosen to accept an offer for their vehicle at the end of the listing period. The vehicles will also be subject to certain eligibility conditions related to age, mileage, and title.
“We’re thrilled to partner with eBay to provide value for its users, in addition to helping us increase our inventory,” said Scott Chesrown, CRO at Vroom. “Many of the cars we sell are purchased from consumers before we fully refurbish them and sell them to Vroom customers, so we’re looking forward to adding cars from eBay Motors users to our inventory.”
